The Organization for Inspiring Individuals to Lead Positive and Healthy Minds


Mission and Goals

Inspire Ready is a nonprofit organization that strives to spread positivity and joy to individuals around the world through social media to influence healthy mindsets. We will achieve this by using social media platforms to share stories, connect individuals and use our voices to encourage happiness and healthiness. We will create social change by raising awareness of the negative effects social media has and start using our platforms to improve society's standards. Social media is filled with so much pessimism and we plan to turn it into a more supportive environment. We are ready to inspire the next generation to lead a positive shift in the way we use social media. 


About

In order to inspire individuals to lead positive and healthy lives, Inspire Ready aims to give strong individuals a platform to influence more encouraging voices on social media. Inspire Ready will create spaces on social platforms to connect individuals that are alike and want to change the way we view each other on the internet. We will create weekly challenges for individuals to spread love throughout their communities and cause a chain reaction within their peers. We have seen this done before with challenges such as the Ice Bucket Challenge that was done all over the world.


Passion Behind the Idea

Spreading positivity on social media is important to me because I see and feel the negative effects it has on individuals. These platforms should not be used to bring us down or make us feel any less than we are. It deeply hurts me to see how many people are willing to permanently change themselves to fit in or look like what society deems perfect. Everyone should feel appreciated and loved just the way they are. There needs to be a bigger platform for individuals to spread their positivity and sway others' mindsets for the better. I have an extreme dislike for the climate today's social media is in. It needs more voices to tell people they are beautiful and don’t need to change to fit in. 


This organization will be used to remind people they are not alone. We will celebrate everyone as they are and use their unique selves to encourage everyone to shamelessly live their best lives.  My organization will work to beat social stigmas. This organization will not only work through social media but will hold in-person events for people to connect and collaborate with each other.  We will hold virtual events/conferences, record podcasts, and even share videos of people inspiring others.


Why Invest in Us?

Anima Mundi Development Partners should support our organization because we want to support the growth of healthy minds and healthy lives. Social media has a great effect on our everyday lives and will continue to do so. In order to foster a more wholesome environment, we need to combat shaming and bullying. An organized campaign will highlight positive voices and influence individuals to use their voices to spread love, not hate. With the support of AMDP, we hope to grow our platform to affect lives off of the internet and into the streets of our local neighborhoods by holding networking and community events.

WORLD WE IMAGINE PART 1

 One of the biggest problems I have with our society and separate communities is social media. It is a quick and easy way to spread false information or mess up people's values. We see social media today ruining young children's minds or making people want to change themselves because they are insecure. These are just a few big problems I have with social media, if I could redo social sites I would. 

The first step in creating a better world would create a social media site that is only for spreading positivity. A safe space where people can uplift others and share ideas. Too often do I go on Instagram and see people being judged and put down. It is tiring to see people always being so negative for no reason. We were all told when we were younger, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. Many adults need to hear this too because I see them in comments spewing hatred. No one needs to know if you think Kim Kardashian's dress is ugly, if she liked it that is all that matters. I am tired of people using the freedom of speech as an excuse to be nasty and judgemental. 

Another thing I would do to make the world a better place is help create better awareness for information that is true. False information is spread all over the internet far too often. Even though it can take about 10 seconds to debunk something, people don't do it because they believe what they want. This is so harmful to kids and honestly just anyone. So much false information has been spread about the vaccines which are driving people away from getting them. 

I really wish people would treat each other better. It makes me sad seeing so many people feel okay with putting others down so often. No one cares if you don't like another person's outfit, it is okay to keep things to yourself. No one wants to feel ashamed for liking something not everyone does. Why use your energy to spread negative energy when you can be positive or say nothing at all. More people need to think about why they are making comments if it is not helpful.

2nd Random Post

 I really love going on random adventures to new places. Going out into nature is one of my favorite things to do, although I have pretty bad allergies. Lately, I have been wanting to go visit different national parks. In this post, I will talk about three national parks I hope to visit in the next year: Zion National Park, Yosemite, and Yellowstone. 

Zion National Park

Zion is located in the southeastern portion of Utah. Some notable activities to do while there are the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive and Zion Mount Carmel Highway. Many people say the Radiator Springs roller coaster at California Adventure looks similar to Zions Canyons. A fun fact about this park is the path called Angel’s Landing is considered one of the most dangerous hikes in the world. 


Yosemite

I went to Yosemite once already when I was really young and I loved it, but I want to go again. I never got to go on the hikes or more sides of the park, which is what I want to do. Yosemite is located in Central California, about 2 hours from where I lived. Yosemite is beautiful during the Summer and Winter. In winter, the mountains are filled with snow. Although it gets cold and may be dangerous, it is still worth visiting. It gets hot in the summer, but there are many lakes you can take a dip in or waterfalls you can stand under. 



Yellowstone

Yellowstone is known as the first national park in the United States and the world. It is located in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. One of its most notable attractions is Old Faithful geyser. The photo above features the Grand Prismatic Spring, also known as the Rainbow Pool, the third-largest hot spring globally. However, it is not safe to swim in because the water is boiling. Yellowstone also sits on top of one of the world’s largest supervolcanoes.

Book 2 Post 2

 I am reading Just Us: An American Conversation. I am still reading, or actually listening to this book, but so far I am enjoying it. This book is a mix of funny, real, and sad. Before reading this book, I assumed the conversations with friends, colleagues, or her students. No, she is having these conversations with strangers. Strangers she is sitting next to on planes or in lobbies. I was shocked by this because I would be way too nervous to start such conversations about pretty sensitive topics with strangers. However, Rankine did what she needed to do. 

One part of the book I enjoyed the most was when Claudia Rankine called out a white woman for cutting her in line at the airport. She was lined up to board first class. Rankine asked her why she cut her in line, the woman responded with "I didn't think you were in first-class". She says as Rankine is lined up with the rest of the people in first class. Now, why would this woman not think Rankine was meant to be in first class? Was it the color of her skin or what she was wearing? We may never know what she was actually thinking, but she did apologize to Rankine and attempted to compliment her on her shoes. 

I also liked that she had a conversation with a man about not seeing color. I feel like a lot of people say this and do not realize how harmful it actually is. While some people's intentions may be generous, they can be harmful. When you say you don't see color, it feels like you are ignoring all the struggles people of color go through just because you don't want to acknowledge them. I don't believe people truly don't see color but will say things like this to make themselves feel better or say they focus on personalities. Sometimes saying you don't see color can be just as ignorant as believing in stereotypes. 

This book has brought up so many good topics that I would love to have a discussion about. I am excited to listen to the rest of the book and hear more of the conversations she has with others. I would recommend this book for anyone who wants to read more about white privilege or fragility.

You gave me the task of identifying a business to invest in that is socially responsible, environmentally sustainable, and profitable, and worthy of investment from Anima Mundi Development Partners. After extensive research, I have concluded that Cocokind is worthy to be invested in for several reasons such as

  1. They are a sustainable clean beauty brand

  2. They create a social impact within their community

  3. They care about their customers feeling good

  4. They care about our planet


 In this memo, I will highlight Cocokind’s background, outside opinions, and my final recommendation.


I will start off by going over the basic concepts of Triple Bottom Line, Corporate Social Responsibility, Social Enterprise, and Carbon Footprint. 


Triple Bottom Line

 Triple Bottom Line is the concept that firms should consider social and environmental impacts in addition to their financial success. It is broken into three categories known as the three P’s- people, planet, and profit. This is important because it shows companies can be financially successful without causing harm to our environment.

  • People: This category considers all stakeholders, which includes employees, customers, and communities. 

  • Planet: The positive or negative impact an organization has on the environment. 

  • Profit: The positive or negative impact the organization has on the local or national economy.


 Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a company's job to be conscious about the environment, social issues, and the economy. 

 

Social Enterprise 

 A social enterprise is a business that has specific social objectives as its main purpose of business. 

 

Carbon Footprint

Carbon footprint is the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere as a result of activities from an individual, organization, or community. It is important to learn about this because of global warming issues and it could lead to unhealthy air conditions. It is measured by greenhouse gases emitted and types of climate impacts. 

 

What is Cocokind?

 

Cocokind, founded in San Francisco, CA by Priscilla Tsai, is a certified organic and socially conscious skincare line originally based on virgin coconut oil. It was launched in November 2014 and is sold in natural supermarkets like Whole Foods. Cocokind is transparent about what ingredients are used in each product and is relatively affordable with products under $30. They are plant-powered, sustainable, affordable, and cruelty-free. From their formulas to their shipping boxes, Cocokind is committed to preserving sustainability throughout their entire supply chain. They strive to be honest, approachable, and inclusive. 


They use organic ingredients whenever possible. Their container tubes are made from sugarcane pellets. The ink used on their packing is derived from soy instead of other fossil fuels. The clear bottles they use are made of flint glass made from fewer materials which cuts down on carbon emissions and cost for consumers. 


Not only are they a sustainable beauty brand, but they also take pride in making an impact in the community. The Cocokind Impact Foundation provides financial grants to female entrepreneurs in health, wellness, and sustainability industries who are focused on creating social impact through business. This program is managed through Philanthropic Ventures Foundation, which recognizes emerging community leaders and gives them the chance to soar.


Outside Opinions


Cocokind has been reviewed by many professionals in the beauty industry. Jacqueline Saigon, a style & beauty fellow with Insider Reviews, stated “ I tried Cocokind, the Instagram famous sustainable skincare startup, and I’d buy every product again”. She went on to describe how their posts highlight all skin types and celebrate that everyone is different. Saigon concluded by saying “ Cocokind is a skin-friendly, affordable bet worth taking”.


Liv Birdsall, a writer and copy editor for all things sustainability, states, “I was thrilled when the first delivery arrived without unnecessary plastic packaging. Some of the items even come in glass bottles or jars that are easy to clean and repurpose. I jumped right into my new routine and soon had new skincare must-haves. You'll find my review of each product I tried below, starting with my absolute favorites”. Birdsall also tested out several products to see if their claims matched its actual results. Birdsall continued to say, “The brand's marketing rings true: The products are lightweight, affordable, and long-lasting. Plus, my skin is less blotchy, clearer, and dewier since using multiple Cocokind products together”. 



My Final Recommendation

I have been using Cocokind products for over a year and my skin always feels so fresh. They have an impressive lineup of natural, cruelty-free products good for anyone.


If you are looking to invest in a brand that is socially responsible, environmentally sustainable,and profitable, Cocokind is the way to go. Not only do they care about your skin, but they care about the community. They still have so many plans for the future on their sustainability journey. Although they already seem as natural as can be, they don’t believe there is a ceiling on sustainability.

Book 2 Post 1

 For book 2, I chose to read Just Us: An American Conversation by Claudia Rankine because I feel like I will be able to relate to it a lot. The excerpt tells us this book goes over some of the uncomfortable conversations Rankine has with others about racism. I've had conversations like this and they did not go well. I want to read about her conversations and learn what she gets from having them.  

I think this book could teach me a lot about uncomfortable conversations as a young black women. After reading this book, I hope I can learn how to have more conversations about racism without feeling uncomfortable or so exhausted. I really hope more people decide to read this story also, because it would be an interesting topic to talk about in class. Although it may be uncomfortable and show individuals true colors, it is important to talk about.
